WSWBC will be holding our 2018 AGM on Tuesday, April 24th at 7:30 PM.

The AGM will be held via teleconference using GoToWebinar. There are several ways to connect to the webinar, all require an internet connection with a minimum of 1 Mbps download speed. More details are available here.

Please register for the webinar to receive the connection details and AGM material. Members can access the AGM via phone or computer. You must connect via computer if you wish to be able to vote.

BC club presidents are encouraged to bring forward items for the agenda before April 14th, 2018. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Build The Skills Coaching Course @ Vancouver, BC

The purpose of this technical skills clinic is to create an understanding of how to teach the basic techniques and skills of towed water sports for coaches working with participants of all ages that have little or no formal towed water sports experience. This courses is three days long and covers water ski and wakeboard disciplines with a specific day devoted to each.

Build The Skills trained coaches will not only have increased their discipline-specific coaching knowledge but also be eligible to coach at the BC Summer Games.

Foundations Coaching Course @ Kelowna, Bc
Jun 16 – Jun 17 all-day

Towed water sport essentials are the focus of this two day clinic, with an emphasis placed on safety, fun, ethics, boat driving, and values beyond competition. This clinic will help camps, schools, and volunteer coaches foster love of the sport, promote participation, and teach basic skills to beginners of all ages through a variety of activities and disciplines.

Coaches that complete this course, occupational first aid and have a valid boat operations card will be Foundations Trained. This is the minimum requirement to work for a WSWC insured water ski or wakeboard school.

Schedule: The course will run 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Saturday and 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Sunday.

Cowichan Valley, BC July 19-22, 2018

The BC Games Society announced the 18 sports that will be part of the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games. Up to 2754 athletes, 535 coaches, and 378 officials will compete in athletics, baseball, basketball (traditional full-court and 3×3), canoe/kayak, equestrian, golf, lacrosse (box and field), rowing, rugby, sailing, soccer, softball, swimming, synchronized swimming, towed water sports, triathlon, volleyball (beach and indoor), and wrestling. Para athletes will compete in equestrian and swimming and Special Olympians will compete in athletics and swimming.

Kim McKnight from the Victoria Aqua Ski Club has volunteered as the Provincial Sport Chair for the Games.

Selection for the towed watersports Zone teams will be based on results from the 2017 summer season. Discipline reps will select zone teams in June 2018. Zone coaches will be finalized by December 2017.
